Description

Homemade Almond Kringle is a flaky, buttery, and sweet Danish pastry filled with almond paste and topped with icing.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup almond paste
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour and butter until crumbly.
  3. Add sour cream and mix until dough forms.
  4. Chill the dough for 30 minutes.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface.
  6. Spread almond paste evenly over the dough.
  7. Fold the dough into thirds and roll again into a rectangle.
  8. Shape the dough into a kringle and place on a baking sheet.
  9. Brush with beaten egg.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Mix powdered sugar and vanilla with water to create icing.
  12. Drizzle icing over the cooled kringle.

  • Use chilled butter for a flaky texture.
