- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 cup almond paste
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour and butter until crumbly.
- Add sour cream and mix until dough forms.
- Chill the dough for 30 minutes.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface.
- Spread almond paste evenly over the dough.
- Fold the dough into thirds and roll again into a rectangle.
- Shape the dough into a kringle and place on a baking sheet.
- Brush with beaten egg.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Mix powdered sugar and vanilla with water to create icing.
- Drizzle icing over the cooled kringle.

- Use chilled butter for a flaky texture.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
- For extra flavor, add almond extract to the icing.
