Description

A flavorful herb crusted prime rib roast for a special occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 prime rib roast (57 pounds)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix garlic, rosemary, thyme, olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  3. Rub the herb mixture all over the prime rib roast.
  4. Place the roast on a rack in a roasting pan.
  5. Roast for 20 minutes at 450°F, then lower the temperature to 325°F (163°C).
  6. Continue roasting until the internal temperature reaches your desired doneness (about 135°F for medium-rare).
  7. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 20 minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • Use a meat thermometer for accurate cooking.
  • Letting the meat rest helps retain juices.
  • Pair with sides like mashed potatoes and green beans.
