Ingredients

- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup light corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Combine sugar, butter, and corn syrup in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Stir until the mixture melts and becomes smooth.
- Add heavy cream, salt, and vanilla extract.
- Continue to cook, stirring frequently until the mixture reaches 245°F (firm ball stage).
- Pour the mixture into a greased 8-inch square pan.
- Let it cool completely before cutting into squares.
- Wrap each caramel in wax paper.
Notes
- Store wrapped caramels in an airtight container.
- For a flavored twist, add sea salt or a splash of rum.
